Fruitbodies range from small, delicate litter-decomposers to medium-sized, fleshy woodland mushrooms. Colours vary widely-white, cream, buff, grey, brown, lilac, or orange depending on genus. The spore print is white, sometimes cream. Odours may be pleasant, farinaceous, sweet, or indistinct, depending on species.

Singerocybe comprises medium-sized, robust, pale-coloured agarics with decurrent gills, thickish cap flesh, and white spore prints. Caps are typically cream, buff, pale brown, or greyish, often with a smooth to slightly fibrillose surface. Gills are crowded, decurrent, and remain pale throughout development. Stipes are stout, fibrous, and lack a ring.
