Members of this family are of a medium to large size fleshy fungi. There caps have an involuted margin, decurrent gills which are either thin or thick and moderately crowded. Which either repeatedly forked or interveined and easily separable from the cap. The spore are normally brown with out a germ pore. | Two introduced species are found under exotic trees in New Zealand. |
