A small, white, decurrent-gilled, lyophyllaceous agaric forming clusters on rotting wood or tree fern stipes, arising from a spreading white mycelial mat. Recent sequencing confirms placement within Rhizocybe, despite its lignicolous habit and occasional pleurotoid appearance.

Pileus: Size: 10-30 mm diameter. White when young, later tinged cream. Initially flat with a down­rolled margin, becoming umbilicate or shallowly funnel-shaped with age. Surface velvety to fibrillose; sometimes finely grooved or striate towards the margin.
Lamellae: Decurrent, running well down the stipe or point of attachment; white. Thin, shallow, moderately distant to crowded.
Stipe: 5-20 mm long x 1-2 mm thick, white. Central or eccentric. Slender and fragile, sometimes reduced or nearly absent in pleurotoid forms arising directly from wood.
Context: Thin, soft, white.
