A grey-brown to dark brown Inocybe lacking yellow tones, with a smooth to squamulose umbo, a rimose-splitting margin, and conspicuously nodulose spores. Occurs under Leptospermum scoparium in New Zealand coastal and lowland habitats.

Pileus: Up to 35 mm diam. Conico-convex to campanulate to umbonate-expanded. Grey-brown, hazel-brown to dark brown; no yellow tints. Umbo smooth, later squamose. Surface fibrillose to rimose, often splitting toward margin. Subviscid when wet. Veil remnants absent.
Lamellae: Adnate, adnexed to almost free, ventricose, crowded (l = 1-7). Whitish or grey to beige-grey. Edge white-fimbriate.
Stipe: 25-50 x 3-5 mm, cylindrical. Base marginate-bulbous (to ~11 mm diam.). Whitish to pink or reddish-brown; bulb white externally. Entire length pruinate, sometimes longitudinally striate. Dry, solid. No veil remnants. Occurs single or in groups.
Context: brownish in pileus, reddish-brown in stipe.
Odour/tast: Not distinctive
