Blue-tinged, rimose, swamp-dwelling species with multi-angled spores and conspicuous white rhizoids at the stipe base; among Sphagnum in New Zealand wetlands and Nothofagus forest .

Lamellae: (L 8-16, l 1-3) adnate to adnexed, becoming emarginate in mature basidiomes; ventricose, up to 5 mm wide. Colour whitish to pale argillaceous with a blue tinge, later argillaceous-pink; edges concolorous and even.
Stipe: 30-60 x 1.5-2 mm, cylindrical, slender, equal; grey-blue, becoming white toward the base, which bears conspicuous white rhizoids or strigose hairs. Surface dry, smooth at the apex, coarsely fibrillose to hairy toward the base; fistulose; solitary or in small groups.
Context: blue, especially in the upper stipe.
