A distinctive sequestrate cortinarius of Nothofagus forest, recognised by its orange‑red, gelatinised, two‑layered peridium, globose to subglobose sporocarps, and much‑reduced or absent columella.

Peridium: Globose to subglobose, occasionally with apical or parietal flattening. Size: 11-33 mm diam. Structure: Two‑layered. Epidermis: Orange‑red, gelatinised, smooth or occasionally tuberculate, 0.7–1.2 mm thick. Subdermis: Brown, 0.2–0.6 mm thick, separating from hymenophore in older sporocarps. Context: White, <1 mm thick.
Hymenophore: Loculate; chambers empty. Colour: Rust‑brown at maturity. Trama: Locules separated by white trama.
Stipe:: Stipe surrounded by the pellis, occasionally protruding. Dimensions: 2.2–4.2 mm wide × 1.5–3.0 mm tall. Context: White.
Columella: Absent or only weakly radicating into hymenophore.
Context: White, <1 mm thick.
