Fruitbodies: Coralloid, 20–70 mm tall, forming dense, compact tufts of repeatedly forked branches. Branches subcylindrical to slightly flattened, often irregularly arranged and closely packed. Overall colour dark grey‑brown, smoky grey, or mouse‑grey, sometimes with faint lilac or brownish tones. Texture brittle, snapping cleanly.
Apex: Rounded or bluntly forked; tips usually paler grey than the main branches.
Colour: Dark grey‑brown, smoky grey, mouse‑grey; paler at the tips. Drying paler grey‑buff.
Surface: Smooth to faintly wrinkled; older branches may show shallow longitudinal folds. Under magnification, the surface may appear slightly granulose.
Base: Short, compact, whitish to pale grey; not distinctly stalked.
Size: Clusters 20–70 mm tall and 20–50 mm wide.
Growth habit: Solitary or in small scattered groups; often forming dense, bushy tufts rather than open corals.
