A small, dark olive-green to blackish cup fungus, apothecia cup- to disc-shaped, smooth, slightly gelatinous when fresh, often with a darker hymenial surface. Usually scattered on decaying wood in cool, moist forest.

Cap: Apothecia 3-10 mm across, shallowly cup‑shaped to flattened; outer surface olive‑brown to dark green‑black; margin even or slightly lobed.
Hymenial: smooth,surface typical of discomycetes.
Stipe: Absent or very short; apothecia usually sessile on substrate.
Flesh: Thin, gelatinous to cartilaginous; dark olive.
