Ceratiomyxaceae are different from all other myxomycetes in that they are the only one to produce fruiting bodies that consist of a simple or variously branched column. Spores are then produced off these on the end of a thread like stalks.

Species:Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (Müll.) Macbr. Found growing on soft spongy wood. Is a very common and can be found most places. It has a number of forms as seen below

Species: Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (Müll.) Macbr. As above but a younger fruiting body. Showing the tipical form when growing in the open.

Species: Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (Müll.) Macbr. Again the same as above showing a simple branched fruiting body growing from the side of a dead tree.
