Kingdom Plantae
line
(Metaphyta or Embryophyta; nonvascular and vascular plants)
multicellular form with specialized eukaryotic cells; do not have their own means of locomotion.

  Division: Bryophyta (mosses)
Bryophytes can be found in almost all eco-regions of the world, from the frigid Arctic to warm tropical forests.
   Class: Anthocerotopsida (Hornworts)
Class: Hepaticopsida (Liverworts)
Class: Bryopsida (Mosses)

  Division: Psilotophyta (Fork ferns)
     Family: Psilotaceae
      Genus: Psilotum
Genus: Tmesipteris

  Division: Lycopodiophyta
Have leaves with a single, central vein. Lycopsids were among the first terrestrial plants.
   Class: Lycopodiopsida
    Order: Lycopodiales
     Family: Lycopodiaceae (club mosses)
      Genus: Lycopodium
   Class: Isoëtopsida
     Family: Selaginellaceae (spike mosses)
Selaginellas have small thin leaves and their stems may either grow upright or along the ground.
      Genus: Selaginella
     Family: Isoetaceae (quillworts)
      Genus: Isoëtes

  Division: Equisetophyta (horsetails)
Horsetails are a group of small perennial plants that spread by creeping rhizomes and have leaves reduced to nodal sheaths on hollow jointed ribbed shoots.
     Family: Equisetaceae
      Genus: Equisetum

  Division: Polypodiophyta (true ferns)
Ferns are typically found in moist, wooded regions and they vary widely in size and form. Some species of aquatic ferns have leaves about 1 inch (2.5 centimetres) long, where in some tropical regions, tree ferns may grow to 65 feet (20 meters) high. Fern leaves (fronds) are usually made up of many smaller leaflets and may be very large. With most ferns, the plant stem is underground, with the fronds being the only visible parts.
