The amanita genus are mycorrhizal and contains some of the most poisonous species of fungi in the world, great care is needed not to mistake these with other edible species.

The distinguishing characters are white spore print, (usually) with pale gills free from the stem and the presence of a universal veil that often creates a ring on the stem. The cap is normally dry and in many cases have warts or patches on the cap.

The fungi below are those that I have been unable to identify beyond there genus. This maybe due to me miss understanding the keys or a species that has not yet been described (named).
line
Species: Amanita sp.
It has been suggested that this may be A. gemmata but this species is not known to occur in New Zealand. The other suggestion has been a washed out A. muscaria but I don't agree with this.
