This family consists of small to medium-sized, gelatinous, and somewhat translucent saprophytic fungi. With fruit-bodies borne on dead wood or corse twigy material.

Growing singly with short stalks or scattered gregariously in overlapping clusters, is gelatinous in texture with the lower surface mimicking a toothed fungus, of which two species occurs in New Zealand.
