This small pale species, which I have not been able to identify confidently, seems to be common around the Auckland region.

Basidiome (immature): Subglobose to onion‑shaped, 1.5-20 mm wide, covered in a tan to light brown. Surface often slightly roughened or patchy.
Basidiome (mature): Expands to 3-5 cm across when the exoperidium splits into 5-7 rays.
Rays: Rays are pale buff to light tan, noticeably lighter than most NZ earthstars. They are moderately broad, not extremely narrow. Reflex outward but not sharply, more of a gentle spread.
Spore sac: Smooth, evenly coloured grey‑brown with collar.
