Pileus: 25-65 mm diam., umbonate at all stages, dark brown to soot‑brown with distinct purplish or lilac tints, especially in fresh material. Surface densely squamulose, the scales concolorous with the cap; dry, non‑striate, non‑hygrophanous, and membranous. Margin even, sometimes slightly uplifted in age.
Lamellae: (L 16-30, l 3-5) adnate to emarginate, often with a short decurrent tooth. Initially whitish‑purple, later brown‑pink with lilac or purplish tones. Edge whitish, distinctly fimbriate.
Stipe: 30-70 x 3-6 mm, cylindrical or tapering upward, frequently twisted, fragile, and fistulose. Colour concolorous with the pileus, covered in purple, lilac, or dark‑brown fibrils, base whitish. Surface dry.
