A striking, dark‑girdled Persplendidi species of Nothofagus forest, with a dry yellow‑grey cap densely covered in dark brown to purple‑brown squamules, an umber‑black disc, and a clavate stipe marked by numerous brown velar girdles ending in an adpressed collar.

Cap: 30-45 mm diam.; obtusely conical when young, later convex to expanded. Surface dry, not hygrophanous, densely covered with dark brown to purple‑brown squamules over a yellowish‑grey background. Disc umber to almost black. Margin later radially lacerated.
Lamellae: Colour pale greenish yellow when young; rather crowded (L = 52, l = 2–3). Attachment emarginate; edges concolorous.
Stipe: 15-50 x 5-8 mm, clavate, with a rounded to marginate bulb. Colour pale yellow to citrinous, with numerous brown girdles terminating in an adpressed collar; apex white. Veil dark yellow‑brown to umber, fairly copious; cortina white to pale yellow.
Context: Pale yellow throughout.
