For many years there has been a lot of confusion over our purple cortinarius fortunately technology has caught up with them. There DNA indicated that there are two describe species in New Zealand that can only be told apart by there habitat. As well as one species that was rejected due to there only been one collection even thou its DNA does indicate that it an undescribed species.
