A medium‑sized, glutinous, brown to red‑brown Phlegmacium with a persistent membranous annulus, ochre‑argillaceous lamellae, and elliptic, moderately large spores.

Pileus: Up to 60 mm diam. Hemispheric to convex to umbonate‑expanded, sometimes depressed at centre in age. Brown to red‑brown when moist, fading to orange‑brown or pale reddish‑brown when drying. Glutinous, slightly hygrophanous. Margin indistinctly striate. Covered with conspicuous whitish, ochre, or reddish‑brown veil patches.
Lamellae: Adnate to emarginate, crowded. Pale ochre‑argillaceous, becoming rust‑brown. Edges concolorous, occasionally lilac, even to crenulate‑serrate.
Stipe: Up to 80 x 15 mm. Cylindric above; base bulbous to marginate. Whitish, soon pale ochre; fibrillose. Annulus membranous, striate, persistent, pale brown. Lower stipe with whitish to pale brown fibrillose to submembranous veil remnants. Dry, hollow, single or in groups.
Context: White, becoming brownish in older basidiomes.
Odour/taste: Not distinctive.
